Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a completely natural, safe state of mind. We are all familiar with being engrossed in a good book or listening to music. We are not asleep but totally focussed; less aware of external distractions and less analytical. Hypnosis allows the therapist / client to communicate with the deep, inner parts of the mind (known as the unconscious / subconscious mind).

This communication can help alleviate many types of problems including behavioural and emotional problems. With a professionally trained therapist there are no dangers in hypnosis. It is impossible to get 'stuck' and although there is a common belief that 'secrets' will be divulged, this is not so. The therapist has no power to control the client and the emphasis is on guiding the client during therapeutic work. Generally people say that they feel deeply physically relaxed and at the end of a session say they feel better than they have felt for a long time. Therapeutic / Clinical Hypnosis is used to help people with a wide range of problems in a way that is safe and appropriate, for their benefit.

Hypnotherapy sessions can be used to achieve change in many areas of your life: overcoming fears and phobias like the fear of flying or examinations. It can also be used as part of a healthy eating programme or plan to stop smoking and it is particularly useful in reducing anxiety and stress.
